House washing, wood deck cleaning, and screened porch in East Point, GA

East Point, GA

What we found and what we did

In June 2026 we soft-washed the exterior of a craftsman-style home in East Point, GA, cleaned the front screened-in porch, and washed the rear wood deck. The siding was gray vinyl with algae and mildew working into the surface, and the deck boards and stairs had the kind of deep green discoloration that builds up over several seasons in a shaded backyard.

The house wash was a soft-wash process: bleach, water, and surfactant applied at low pressure, let dwell, then flushed off with a low-pressure rinse to avoid etching the vinyl. The outside faces of the gutters were included in the pass. Windows came out noticeably cleaner, though mineral content in the rinse water means they won't be streak-free the way a dedicated window cleaning would leave them. The algae and mildew on the siding cleared completely.

The front screened-in porch got a chemical application first, then surface-cleaner passes at working pressure. Where the floor surface showed heavier staining after the first pass, we re-applied chemistry and let it dwell before the final rinse. The porch floor came out clean and even.

The rear deck was the standout of the visit. The wood was carrying heavy algae and mildew on both the deck boards and the stair treads, and the discoloration had set in deep enough that the grain was barely visible before we started. We used a soft-wash approach here too, keeping pressure moderate to avoid raising the grain or splintering the wood fibers. The chemistry did the heavy lifting. After the rinse the grain came back clearly, the warm tone of the wood was visible again, and the stairs went from gray-green to something that looked close to freshly refinished. The result was as good as we've seen on a wood deck that hasn't been stripped and restained.
