House & Detached Garage Washing in Kennesaw, GA

In June 2026 we soft-washed a residential home in Kennesaw, GA, covering the main house exterior, a screened porch, and a detached garage. The vinyl siding on the rear and sides of the house had visible algae and mildew buildup — the kind that sets in gradually over a Georgia summer and tends to be worst on the faces that don't get much afternoon sun.

The house and garage both got a sodium-hypochlorite mix with surfactant applied at low pressure through a downstream injector. We work bottom-up on vinyl so the chemistry doesn't run down a dry wall and leave streaks below the wet line. After a dwell period to let the mix kill the algae and mildew colonies at the root, we rinsed top-down with a fan tip. The screened porch needed careful pressure management around the screen panels — we kept the wand back and the pressure well below what we'd use on open siding so there was no risk of pushing water through the screens or stressing the framing.

The wood surfaces on the porch got a gentler pass as well. Wood doesn't tolerate the same pressure or chemistry concentration as vinyl, so we dialed back the mix and held the tip farther from the surface to avoid raising the grain.

The detached garage was treated the same way as the main house: soft-wash on the siding, a rinse along the eaves and gutters, and a final pass on the rear elevation where mildew had worked its way into the lower courses. By the time we wrapped up, the algae streaking across the back of the house and the green tint on the garage siding had cleared completely.

Kennesaw's humidity keeps algae growing season long here, so the north and shaded faces of a house tend to need attention more often than the sun-facing sides. A preventive soft wash every one to two years keeps the buildup from reaching the point where it takes multiple dwell cycles to clear.
